Tropical Fruit
Florida’s climate gives home gardeners the opportunity to grow a surprising variety of tropical and subtropical backyard fruits. Many are familiar, such as avocado, lime, and mango, but there are also many with strange names, shapes, and flavors, like carambola, lychee, or sapote.
Gardeners in South Florida have the biggest variety to choose from, but there are subtropical fruit that can be grown in Central Florida too. Even North Florida gardeners can grow a few in containers.
