I'm a Master Gardener Volunteer Because...

"I love plants and people." — Kate Heyden, Marion County

April is National Volunteer Month, and we're celebrating our Master Gardener Volunteers (MGVs) and all they do for the love of their craft and their community.

We asked MGVs around the state why they do all the wonderful work they do. Here's an answer from one of our Marion County Master Gardener Volunteers, Kate Heyden. She also enjoys connecting with other people who share her passion for gardening.

Volunteer Month recognizes and promotes the spirit of service, and raises awareness about how volunteering changes lives and strengthens communities.
