I'm a Master Gardener Volunteer Because...

"I consider myself a steward of the earth." — Andy Nelson, Sumter County

We're celebrating our Master Gardener Volunteers (MGVs) and all they do for the love of their craft and their community.

We asked MGVs around the state why they do all the wonderful work they do. Here's an answer from one of our Sumter County Master Gardener Volunteers, Andy Nelson. She also enjoys local residents select Florida-Friendly plants that are good for both their yards and our water supply.

Volunteer Month recognizes and promotes the spirit of service, and raises awareness about how volunteering changes lives and strengthens communities.
