The foliage consist of thick,\u00a0<em>lanceolate<\/em>\u00a0to\u00a0<em>elliptical\u00a0opposite<\/em>\u00a0leaves that are typically gray-green on the upper surface and silver on the lower surface. The leaf\u00a0<em>margin<\/em>\u00a0is often rolled under. The bark is often gray in color, smooth (young trees) or rough and gnarled on older trees. The flowers are small, white and\u00a0<em>racemose<\/em>. The fruit is classified as a\u00a0<em>drupe<\/em>\u00a0and is edible only after processing.
