The leaves are\u00a0<em>alternate<\/em>,\u00a0<em>simple<\/em>, and a rich green color. The leaf\u00a0<em>margins<\/em>\u00a0can be\u00a0<em>entire<\/em>\u00a0or somewhat\u00a0<em>serrated<\/em>. The funnel-shaped flower has four\u00a0<em>petals<\/em>\u00a0and ranges in color from white to cream to gray. Native persimmon fruits are nearly round, shiny, and tough-skinned. They are about one inch in diameter, and the color, when ripe, ranges from a yellow-orange to a dark red-orange. They ripen from September to October, usually after the tree has lost its leaves.
