Elliptic Leaf Shape:<\/strong> Broadest at the middle, the ends nearly equal. See Figure 9.

Floret: <\/strong>A small flower, or an individual flower in a cluster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funnelform Corolla Type:<\/strong> Tube gradually expanding upward as a funnel, the limb may be flaring or somewhat at right angles to the flower axis. See Figure 11.

Glabrous:<\/strong> Smooth, no hairs present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gymnosperm:<\/strong> Cone bearing plants considered more primitive than flowering plants. (Ex: Pine trees)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Herbaceous:<\/strong> A plant with no persistent woody stem above ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Husk: <\/strong>The hard or tough layer that covers some fruits and seeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indehiscent:<\/strong>  A fruit <\/a>that does not open spontaneously to release seeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inflorescence:<\/strong> The flowering part of a plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internode<\/strong>: The part of the stem that is between two nodes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

K<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Kernel: <\/strong>The inner and usually edible part of a seed, grain or nut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lanceolate:<\/strong> Shaped as the head of a lance, broadened at the base and tapering toward the apex. See Figure 12.

Lenticels:<\/strong> A group of raised, corky cells which form beneath the epidermis of a woody plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Linear:<\/strong> Long and narrow, the sides parallel or nearly so. See Figure 13.

Margin:<\/strong> The outer edge of a leaf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monoecious:<\/strong> Male and female flowers are borne on the same plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
