The blue-gray fronds are&nbsp;<em>odd-pinnately compound<\/em>, eight to ten feet long, and strongly curved toward the trunk. The&nbsp;<em>petioles<\/em>&nbsp;have thorns which point towards the leaf tip. Numerous, very small creamy yellow to reddish flowers are borne on three to four foot&nbsp;<em>inflorescences<\/em>.
