Malanga (Xanthosoma spp.)
Malanga has elephant-ear-like leaves which are about 2 feet wide by 2½ feet long. The upper leaf surface is rather smooth and sometimes waxy, and the lower surface is ribbed. The malanga plant may attain a height of 5 feet or more. A central large tuber (corm) is formed at the base of the plant with a cluster of edible cormels around it. The cormels are grayish brown to black.
