Burford Holly (Ilex cornuta ‘Burfordii’)

Burford Holly is a dense evergreen shrub or small tree. The glossy dark green leaves are simplealternateelliptic, and two to four inches long. They are cupped downward, with a sharp point at the tip. The leaves have a leathery or tough texture, and occasionally have two lateral spines. The somewhat showy clusters of fragrant flowers are white. The round, bright red berries, less than 1/2 inch in diameter, are long lasting.
