Flowers and Foliage

Coreopsis, Tickseed (Coreopsis spp.)

The genus Coreopsis is Florida’s state wildflower. It is an upright herbaceous annual from one to three feet in height. Most of the leaves are concentrated at the base of the plant, giving it a clumping appearance. The simple leaves are oppositelobedoblong and two to four inches long. These plants have single or double flowers on leafless stems that come in a variety of colors: orange, pink, purple, red, and yellow.
