Okra (Hibiscus esculentus)

Okra grows 2 to 7 feet tall and has green or red stems, depending on the cultivar. Fruit or pods are pointed at the blossom end, white to dark green, ribbed or smooth, spiny or spineless. Leaves are broad, notched and fuzzy. The large, light-yellow flowers, similar to hibiscus blooms, have a violet center. Seeds are almost round and dark gray in color with a seed stem scar.
