Beet (Beta vulgaris)

The leaves are dark green with reddish veins, and are attached to long reddish upright leaf stems that form a rosette at their base. The edible root is round, somewhat top-shaped and deep red in color, sometimes yellow. The seed is tan with a rough corn cob appearance, similar to chard.
