Meet Georgia Gelmis

Georgia Gelmis is the Senior Information Specialist for the Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program (FFL). She writes Florida-Friendly Landscaping articles for The Neighborhood Gardener and is helping to re-design the FFL Web site. She writes and edits materials for Esen, Brian, and Kathy in the FFL statewide office and works closely with Tom Wichman and the Center for Land Use Efficiency.

Georgia has a Master’s in Creative Writing from the University of Florida and a B.A. in English from Columbia University. In her spare time she writes and reads fiction and poetry; hikes, bikes, and birds; and visits Florida attractions like the Weeki Wachee mermaids and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings’ home.
