Pasco Master Gardener volunteers Rise to the Occasion

By Dr. Whitney Elmore, County Extension Director and Master Gardener Volunteer Coordinator, UF/IFAS Pasco County

Pasco Master Gardener volunteers rose to the occasion following Hurricane Irma. Several came to help remove downed trees at our Extension office's demonstration garden, where they spent hours cutting, moving, and hauling away debris in the heat. Where would we be without these heroes?

And earlier this year, Pasco Master Gardener volunteers Bill Rollins and Leonard Daszkiewicz spent several days building raised beds at the Dade City Watson Park Community Garden in Dade City, Florida. With their help and expertise, the garden is a huge success.

April is National Volunteer Month, when we celebrate the work that volunteers do year-round. Volunteer Month recognizes and promotes the spirit of service, and raises awareness about how volunteering changes lives and strengthens communities.
