Okaloosa Master Gardener Volunteers Go to School

This past year the UF/IFAS Extension Okaloosa County Master Gardener volunteers have been assisting Silver Sands School horticulture teacher Dan Cheon with the school's Coastal Plant Program. Students recently experienced hands-on propagation techniques under the direction of Lee Vanderpool, Lynda Penry, Kathy Foster and Alene Ogle.

Silver Sands School provides educational services to students who, because of their mental functioning levels, require services beyond those offered by other special educational programs in regular schools. Located in Fort Walton Beach, Silver Sands School serves approximately 130 students with disabilities ranging in age from 3 to 22 from Okaloosa and Walton counties. You can learn more about the school at their website.
