Ganoderma Butt Rot

A deadly problem with a funny name, Ganoderma butt rot, is caused by a fungus. It attacks most types of palm trees, and there is no cure. Symptoms includes general decline of the palm, and growths, called conks, may form on the base of the tree. The only solution for control is to remove the diseased palm and plant a different kind of tree; this fungus can live in the soil indefinitely, but it only attacks palms.
