Maypop (Passion Vine)

This perennial flowering vine is native to Florida, and can be grown easily. In fact, it often spreads beyond its original planting spot, so be sure to give the Maypop room to roam. Also called passion flower, Maypops have beautiful purple flowers that arrive in spring, eventually forming small, edible fruits. It's also the host plant for the Gulf Fritillary butterfly and thus a must-have for butterfly gardens.
