Saving Money with Landscaping

A well-designed landscape accents your home, but smart landscaping can also enhance your wallet. Plant leafy trees near the east and west sides of your home, shading the house and reducing your air conditioning bill in the summer (shade the A/C unit as well). Select low-maintenance plants and save money in fertilizer and pesticide costs. Put the "right plants in the right place," use mulch, and keep up with regular maintenance, since all of these things can help conserve water and keep your water bill low. And, of course, a well-planned and well-maintained landscape can also increase the resale value of your home.
